Enrique “Gay” Garcia
GAY GARCIA (Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, 1928). Sculptor, painter and engraver. Studied at San Alejandro Academy in Havana and at the Technical Institute in Mexico, F.D. He resides in Miami, where he has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums. UNESCO presented him with an award in 1962, and CINTAS foundation granted him a scholarship in 1983. Guy García is considered one of the major representatives of Cuban sculpture. As a painter, his work follows the line of gestural abstraction.
