Paragon Gallery is proud to announce “The Internationals” an exhibit of internationally known artists during “Art Basel Miami” (Dec 3rd – Dec 10th). The exhibit including Robin Van Arsdol (U.S.A.), Johann Eyfells (Iceland), Ekatherina Savtchenko (Russia) and Chidi Kwubiri (Nigeria) is an example of the diversity of the world, while focusing on the rarity of the individual and their origins.

Curator/artist Robin Van Arsdol, R.V. as the world knows him, was a major player during the 1980′s street art movement. Credited with over 5,000 murals in the streets of New York, he is one of the most prolific urban artists of our time. He has produced the Graffiti Conference in Orlando, Florida for the past 6 years and currently resides in Miami Beach, U.S.A.

Johann Eyfells, the senior member of the exhibit, represented Iceland in the 45th Venice Benielle in 1993 and was a member of the Millennium exhibit at the United Nations in 1999 -2000. Known for his paper and cloth rust transfers, he is a moment in time from our not so distant past “1972″. Conceptual in nature his works are organic and earthy “I call them Icelandic”, they are of the tundra.

Ekatherina Savtchenko is originally from St. Petersburg but currently divides her time between New York City, U.S.A. and Dusseldorf, Germany. Her “Unity” exhibit has been shown at the United Nations in New York City as well as at the Contemporary Art Museum in Beijing, China and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Known for her figures engulfed in color, she is a strong supporter of the World Peace Movement.

Chidi Kwubiri graduated from the Art Academy in Dusseldorf, Germany. He resides in Germany but still maintains his ties to his homeland, Nigeria. The youngest in the group, he is known for his furious dripping technique where upon mysterious figures emerge from an explosive chaos of color. He has exhibited in Europe, USA and Africa. Currently Chidi Kwubiri is one of the most sought after contemporary artists in the young vibrant and bubbling art scene of Nigeria.

Joining the “Internationals” at Paragon Gallery will be an additional exhibition “The Associates”, artists related to Paragon Gallery. This list includes  ”The Father of Digital Art” Laurence Gartel, Celebrity Pop Artist Stephen Gamson, Famed Sculptor Salvatore (Sal) Zagami, Conceptual Photographer Michel Tcherevkoff, Alberto J. Carol, Leonor Anthony, Baron Laurent de Posson, Photographer Enrique Monasterio, Grazyna Kleinman, Linda Naili, Sculptor Tony Lopez, Jim Hosner, and special guest Chef Calvert Lafollette from the United States.

Paragon Gallery is located at 2033 Northwest 1st Place at NW 20th street at the southern tip of the Miami Wynwood Arts District. The Gallery is devoted to Contemporary, Cuban, Latin American and International Art. There will be a reception for the artists Dec. 8th from 5-7 pm and the public is welcome.

MIAMI, Florida -Paragon Gallery. October, 5, 2012- This exhibition will explore how visual artists perceive these mediums as new ways of expressing their inner world. How they define, construct, and support contemporary Art via Social Media. Do they believe these new technologies will change forever the way we consume art? How are they embracing it?

The term social media refers to the use of web-based and mobile technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue. Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as “a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content.” Social media are media for social interaction, as a set of methods to enhance social communication, using ubiquitously accessible and scalable communication techniques.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Leonor immigrated with her family to the United States as a very young child. Today, she resides and works in Coconut Grove, Florida. Leonor’s preferred medium is oil on canvas and charcoal drawings. The imagery of her art is crafted with a combination of precise and loose brush strokes, characterized by powerful colors and jarring compositions that elicit vivid emotional reactions. In her work, the world is presented by means of a highly subjective personal and spontaneous self-expression. Her paintings do not depict objective reality, but the subjective emotions and responses that objects and events arouse within a person. They seek to express meaning and emotional experience rather than physical reality. Leonor’s art reflects an uncompromising concern for the world, an ardent compassion for the human experience. The compositions run the gamut in scale and color, with her palette ranging from vivid bold colors to near monochromatic studies with just a touch of color.

This enigmatic dichotomy of style is a reflection of the artist’s search for freedom of expression and penchant for setting her own rules. Leonor holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies. The artists that have greatly inspired her are Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch and Caspar David Friedrick. Leonor is one of the founding directors of the Himalayan Community Project, a non profit organization dedicated to advancing the education of the children of Nepal. She is also an active member of the Greater Miami Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Special Olympics. The artist works are represented in private collections in, New York, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, Puerto Rico, Haiti, The Netherlands, Italy and Kenya.

Born on December 27, 1991 Ivan Jorge Roque also known as “The Lost Artist” is a Cuban-American urban artist from the infamous Carol City, Florida an inner city located on the northern side of Miami-Dade County.  Roque attends the Miami International University of Art & Design working to attain his bachelors degree all while still pushing his works to much greater extents. For an artist of his age Roque has had many accomplishments from working with local established artist Gabriel Gimenez to the  hip hop group known as RVIDXR KLVN, and even having a public installation commissioned by the Town of Surfside located in Miami Beach, Florida also not to mention the countless shows all over the city. Ivan Jorge Roque truly is the freshest artist in the Miami art scene and a pioneer in the “Urban Pop” movement he is definetely something to be watched out for in the next coming months as we see what creations can come of the one that is forever lost.

Born in Cuba in 1918, he has resided in Miami, Fl. since 1958.  He studied at the Escuela Tecnica where his father, Joaquin, was professor of sculpture who taught him since he was a child.  In 1936, Tony was named Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the Escuela Tecnica.  In 1956, he was selected to be in the Permanent Collection of Fine Arts at the Palacio di Bellas Artes in Havana, Cuba.  He has been awarded since 1948 by the best museums and art institutes and has participated in countless individual and group exhibits in Cuba and the U.S.A.
